PASTOR BEN KIFER
Pastor

Pastor Ben was called to St. John's in August of 2017 after serving 5 years in Eastern NC. He is a graduate of Augustana College - Rock Island, Illinois, and Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. His wife Stacey and daughter Kaylee light up his life  beautifully, as does sharing the Gospel with the community of Cherryville. He also likes to cook, golf, hike, and cheer for Chicago sports teams!

BARBARA MCDANIEL
Director of Parish Administration

Barbara arrived at St. John's in 1996 after years at Carolina Freight.  She is the mother of two grown children, Kristen and Justin.  Barbara coordinates the daily office activities at St. John's, work that ranges from finances to food bags, phone calls to bulletins, reception to newsletters, organizing to informing.  The list seems endless.

Because she (literally) knows every person who has lived in Cherryville, is currently alive in Cherryville, or yet to be born in Cherryville, Barbara is a wonderful parish and civic resource. Simply said, Barbara is a local celebrity.  St. John's is blessed to have her.

KIM HARRIS
Director of Music

Like Barbara, Kim arrived at St. John's in 1996.  He is married to the lovely and talented Sallianne, and they have two daughters, Emily and Katie, a son-in-law, grandchildren, and dogs.  In addition to church organist and pianist, Kim directs St. John's music programs, including the St. John's Chancel Choir,  the Rainbow Singers and Ringers, and the Eagle Singers and Ringers.

When he is not at St. John's, Kim serves as Executive Director of Brookdale Assisted Living in Hickory, after more than two decades in healthcare management with responsibilities including marketing and administration. Kim graduated from Lenoir-Rhyne with a degree in music education, and he holds certificates in non-profit management from Duke University and in gerontology from Appalachian State University.

MATT AND HEATHER MAUNEY
Sextons

Matt and Heather are long-time members of St. John's.  They are the proud parents of twin daughters, Rebecca and Sara.

When not at St. John's, Matt works for Duke Energy at the McGuire Nuclear Station, and Heather is the service manager the Cherryville branch of HomeTrust Bank (along with leading the Rainbow and Eagle Clubs at St. John's).  Matt and Heather often do the invisible work of church mice, those things that happen that so many in a church take for granted:  changing the eternal candles, securing the building, setting up tables and chairs, filling candle fuel, and so many more churchy things.

REBECCA MAUNEY

Rebecca is a long-time member of St. John's where she has been baptized, received her first communion, and Confirmed. She has been working as the Director of Youth and Family Mission since late 2018.
When she's not at St. John's Rebecca likes to spend time with friends, visit her sister in Charleston and spend time with her dogs, Snoopy (3), Sammie (5), and Louie (1).
