ST. JOHN'S VOCABULARY

Vespers:  Vespers, meaning "evening prayer," is our Wednesday evening sunset service of Word and Sacrament.
Noon Chapel:  refers to the weekly noon prayer service held on Tuesdays or the newly-opened Rhyne-White Chapel.
St. John's Wednesdays:  St. John's weekly ministry beginning with the 7:00 a.m. Prayer Breakfast and ending with 7:30 p.m. choir 
Rainbow Club:  Weekly ministry for children aged preschool to fifth grade
Rainbow Singers:  Monthly Rainbow Club choir, practicing and performing on fourth Sunday mornings 
Rainbow Ringers:  Monthly Rainbow Club bell group, practicing and performing on fourth Sunday mornings
Eagle Club:  Weekly ministry for youth in middle and high school
Eagle Singers:  Monthly Eagle Club choir
Eagle Ringers:  Monthly Eagle Club bell group
St. John's Chancel Choir:  Venerable choir leading worship every Sunday morning
The Order of St. John's:  The ministry of St. John's young people who serve as acolytes (assistants) in worship, including crucifer, thurifer, candlelighters, torch bearers, Bible bearers, and banner bearers 
Narthex:  The church entrance and gathering space
Nave:  The main church, often called the sanctuary 
Office Parlor:  The small sitting room, often used for meetings, outside the church office
Vida Dellinger Parlor:  The large sitting room, often used for parish education, meetings, prayer shawl gatherings, and bridge
Sunday Mornings at St. John's:  The weekly class led by Pastor Eric
Open Door Class:  The weekly class led by Greg Beam, Lynn Holt, and Roy Anness
Saints Hall:  The fellowship hall
Cloister:  The fenced area at the church's entrance
God's Work, Our Hands:  The umbrella name given to the service and social ministry efforts at St. John's
The Parish Pantry:  The pantry that stores supplies for St. John's food and backpack ministries
Table of Grace:  The monthly community meal offered at no cost to the community
Saints Closet:  The clothing ministry offered to residents in Cherryville and beyond
Prayer Breakfast:  The weekly youth breakfast held at the local greasy spoon, Home Folks 
Fellowship Group:  The monthly social group of St. John's adults and seniors
Wild Women:  The monthly social and service group of St. John's women 
Men's Fellowship:  The monthly social and service group of St. John's men
WELCA:  The official ELCA women's group of service and fellowship (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America)
LMIM:  The official ELCA men's group of service and fellowship (Lutheran Men in Mission)
National Youth Gathering:  The triennial gathering of 35,000 ELCA youth and chaperones in a major in America city
The Lunch Bunch:  The weekly Tuesday post-chapel eatin' group
Kitchen Canasta Club:  The weekly Tuesday gathering of card players
St. John's Book Group:  The monthly gathering of book, food, and drink enthusiasts

The Rhyne-White Chapel:  The new 60-seat worship space hosting weekly Noon Chapel and Wednesday Vespers
The Blair Fraley Courtyard:  The outdoor enclosed multi-purpose garden space, often used for worship and receptions
The John Bennett and Coneta Dellinger Hospitality Room:  The kitchenette by the parlor and chapel used for preparing and serving light meals and refreshments
The James and Dorothy Putnam Conference Room:  The tech-ready conference featuring the beautiful and functional Carole Halupke Table.
The Edwin and Bobbie Rudisill Plaza:  The enclosed plaza area with outdoor seating by Saints Hall and the kitchen, enclosed by the Tomlin Gates and Ironwork
The Rumble Room:  The forthcoming multi-purpose play space for children and grown-ups, located on the third floor of the education building
The Willard McSwain Youth Room:  The newly-renovated youth room
