Endowment

The Saint John's Endowment Fund was established on May 2, 1993 to provide Christians an opportunity to support the church through bequests in wills, charitable trusts, charitable gift annuities, assignments of life insurance, donations, and property to include cash, securities and real estate.  Gifts to the fund remain with the fund in perpetuity, while income from endowment investments can be used to fund the church mission including operations and maintenance, capital improvements, and other needs approved by the Congregation Council.  An Endowment Committee consisting of five members elected by the  congregation administers the fund.

All members of Saint John's are encouraged to consider a gift to the Endowment Fund in their giving throughout the year, as well as part of their estate planning.  Indeed, it is through the endowment that the life of the church and the legacy of our members will be sustained.

Some Frequently asked questions about the Endowment Fund...

1. How can I contribute to the Fund?  Putting a check in the Sunday collection plate payable to Saint John's and designed for the Endowment Fund is the easiest method.  You can also include a gift through your will as well as designate Saint John's Endowment as the beneficiary of an insurance policy.  Additionally, you can gift marketable securities and real estate to the fund.

2. Why should Saint John's be included in my will?  The Endowment Fund provides an opportunity for you to leave a lasting legacy to the church that has nurtured and supported you over the years.  A gift through your will provides an enduring legacy to sustain the church and support its important mission on Earth.

3. Is there a minimum or maximum amount that I can give?  All gifts are welcome and appreciated.  Few people accumulate enough wealth to fund an entire endowment.  Whatever gifts our hears and our means allow us to give, when bundled together with gifts of others, will build a larger fund to assure the long life of Saint John's.

4. May gifts be made in honor or memory of someone?  Yes, gifts may be designated in honor or memory of someone.  An announcement of gifts to the endowment is published in the church bulletin.
